Event 20: Controversy Before Dinner Break

$3300 + $200 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship NLH

The hand before dinner break increased the stack of our new chip leader, Dan Colman, but not without controversy.

A short stacked player, Vichien Siprajim reached the river against Dan on a board K2936. There was about 150K in the pot and Vichien had about 100K.  Dan said "one million" and threw an orange (1000) chip into the pot. The dealer said, "That basically puts you all in." Vichien Siprajim threw in an orange chip.  Colman turned over K8 and Vichien mucked.

The controversy then erupted as Vichien said he had only intended to call the 1000 bet (which is not a legal bet.) Dozens of players stayed 15 minutes into the dinner break as the floor ruled that Vichien's call was for his entire stack. He finishes in 58th place.

Tournament director Tab Duchateau said, "It was a bet, you throwing in the chip confirms the bet, there was nothing more we could do."

Colman said that he regretted his unorthodox betting verbiage. He now has about 2.8 million in chips.
