It's now do or die for players who need a chip infusion before the re-entry period closes. Level 6 (200/400/50 ante) is the last chance for short stacks to double-up or re-enter if they bust.
Player's strategies vary on a case-by-case situation, but most agree that the safety net is a nice option if lady luck delivers her nasty bad beat.
