Today's other main event is the $3k Heads-Up No Limit Hold'em tournament. The format has changed slightly from past heads-up tournaments here at Borgata.
In the past, this event was double-elimination: if a player lost a match, he fell into the 'losers bracket'. When he lost a second match, he would be eliminated from the tournament.
This time, each match will be best two of three games. This means each player will have to lose two games to be eliminated, but those two games will be against the same opponent.
Last September, Jeremy McLaughlin (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) took top honors in this event, along with over $49,000.
During the 2011 Winter Open, the heads-up event buy-in was $2k. After two days play, the winner was Brandon Zaucha (Arlington Heights, IL) who claimed almost $35k.
Bracket Draw in Progress
The draw is currently underway and the bracket is not full, so some players will get a first-round bye.
The match-ups will be posted later, but among those patiently awaiting the draw are
Gavin Smith
Matt Glantz
Christian Harder
Defending champion Jeremy McLaughlin
Jeff Madsen
